Project Name: Burkina Hope

Introduction

The Heirs of Christ (HOC) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Germantown, Maryland – USA.  Incorporated in Maryland in 2021, HOC currently implements different programs in three West African countries including Togo, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast.

This project targets Burkina Faso, which has been a victim of terrorist attacks since 2016. The three most prominent terrorist groups, JNIM, ISIS-GS, and Ansaroul Islam, violently attacked multiple cities and villages in the northern, eastern, and southwestern regions of Burkina Faso. The innocent victims were mostly defenseless women and children who fled to the capital city, Ouagadougou, or to other neighboring countries for refuge and safety.

As a result, more than one million citizens of Burkina Faso live in blockaded areas or face daily threats of violence. It has been difficult for communities in Burkina Faso to continue farming, a primary source of income for many families. First hand food became expensive due to inflation, and in some areas, food prices have increased by 30 percent. In addition, schools are forced to close, leaving families and children in disarray.

 

Overall Objectives

As displaced populations live in extremely disadvantaged health and sanitary conditions throughout Burkina Faso, HOC partnered with the Association LYDIE (LYDIE), a Christian-based organization to support citizens, mainly women and children, by providing medical equipment and supplies under the Project Burkina Hope.

Project Burkina Hope supports HOC’s mission to address the health issues in the northern part of Burkina Faso. HOC will provide medical equipment and supplies with the assistance of its partners in the United States.

The specific objectives of the Project Burkina Hope include:

• Shipping medical equipment and supplies

• Distributing medical equipment and supplies

• Targeting about 3,500 vulnerable families, children, and women with urgent basic needs

Established in 2013, Association LYDIE (Association of Destiny Women Leadership Yearning Development Initiatives for the Essential Needs) is a Christian based not-for-profit organization located in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. LYDIE operates with local and international partners in health, youth protection, and social and economic promotion for the needed population.

Budget

HOC has a proposal budget of $35,000, which includes the fees for the material, equipment, and supplies, shipping to Burkina Faso, and distribution.
